Traveling netizens
Every second Hungarian and Polish internet user is looking for online information related to tourism and travel. The youngest travel website visitors are in Slovakia and Bulgaria, slightly older in the Czech Republic, according to a recent analysis by Gemius.
The regional countries studied were Hungary, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia, as Gemius data for the “tourism” category are available in these countries. The ranking was based on April 2013 data.
The analysis shows that Hungarians and Poles are the ones who most and like to plan their holidays online. Most people are looking for information on which tourist sites to visit. This is the subject of every second Hungarian (54 percent) and Polish (50 percent) user browsing. In the Czech Republic, one in three Internet users (30 percent) roams the online world and seeks inspiration in this way. On the other hand, Slovaks and Bulgarians are relatively less likely to turn to travel-related websites compared to this (14 and 7 percent, respectively).
Examining further, the research also shows that Hungarian, Polish and Bulgarian women plan to travel online more often than men. Most of the women are found in the audience of visitors to leisure and travel websites in these countries. In the Czech Republic, however, it is men who are more interested in trips or travel online. In Slovakia, on the other hand, men and women show an almost equal distribution of visitors to this type of site.
