USB 3.0 card from Transcend

If you don’t want to replace your motherboard and even several of your other hardware with it due to USB 3.0, you might want to take a look at the Transcend card.

Transcend Information recently unveiled its USB 3.0 add-on card with two high-speed USB 3.0 ports. The hardware, which fits into the motherboard's 1 × PCI Express 2.0 slot, allows speed-obsessed people to enjoy up to a ten-fold increase in speed and more efficient power management over USB 2.0 in a system that supports the older USB standard. In addition to the 5 Gb / s speed, the device is of course also backwards compatible, so the previous USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 hardware can be used with it without any problems. At high speeds, the card can provide 900 mA of power per USB port, which is 80 percent higher than 2.0 mA of the USB 500 standard. This allows more gluttonous devices to operate with greater stability and devices with a battery to charge faster.
