You are bored? Talk to the washing machine!

LG Electronics (LG) unveiled its smart home appliances with advanced connectivity options at CES 2013. The NFC sticker on LG Smart home appliances allows you to control your refrigerator, washing machine, robotic vacuum cleaner or oven with your smartphone. This Smart Control system allows us to remotely control and monitor our smart home appliances with voice control.

LG divides the technologies used in its smart devices into two distinct but highly complementary groups: LG's four core technologies - Linear Compressor, Inverter Direct Drive, COMPRESSOR ™ and Lightwave - deliver outstanding performance and savings, while LG Smart technologies - Smart Manager, Smart Diagnosis ™, Smart Access, Smart Adapt and Smart Grid Ready - ensure user convenience.

The new smart LG refrigerator incorporates a number of Smart technologies built around linear compressor technology, which has become the company’s trademark. These include Smart Manager, which turns a refrigerator into a complete food management system. The bottom line is that users can view the contents of the refrigerator without having to open the door using the LCD panel or their smartphone. Smart Manager Freshness Tracker allows you to specify and check the shelf life of different foods. Smart Manager also offers recipe ideas from the ingredients in the fridge, which can then be forwarded to LG’s smart oven.

With Smart Access, you can control LG home appliances from anywhere using your smartphone. Instead of creating long shopping lists, owners of LG refrigerators can retrieve the contents of their refrigerator from the supermarket with an iOS or Android smartphone.

Another new feature in Smart Manager is Smart Shopping, which lets you arrange shopping directly from the LCD panel of your refrigerator. Foods that are already in short supply can be ordered automatically, but individual products can also be purchased individually. The Smart Shopping feature avoids the inconvenience of queuing in supermarkets, saving users significant time.

LG’s unique Health Manager1 feature offers recipes based on the user’s personal profile and compiles the recommended daily and weekly diets. The service calculates the body mass index based on the user's age, gender, weight and height, and then creates a personalized diet based on that.

The Smart Diagnosis ™ feature has undergone significant development, resulting in more efficient fault analysis and user notification for LG smart devices. With Wi-Fi connectivity, NFC tags, and audible alerts, users are instantly notified of minor issues, such as when the ice maker shuts down, to avoid costly, inconvenient service calls and disembarkations.

LG’s smart cooler is also equipped with Smart Grid Ready technology, meaning it can automatically adjust its temperature and settings, resulting in significant energy savings. The smart cooler also has a Delay Defrost Capability, which reduces energy consumption at certain hours of the day. In addition to viewing the user’s favorite TV shows on the cooler screen, the Smart Share feature allows you to share content from the fridge and other LG Smart devices so photos, music, movies, calendars and even the weather report can be displayed on the cooler display. In addition, the device not only displays the recipes, but also shows the preparation of the dishes on the refrigerator door with videos.

LG's smart washing machine has Smart Diagnosis ™, Smart Access, Smart Adapt and Smart Grid Ready functions. Smart Diagnosis ™ notifies the user of possible technical problems via Wi-Fi connection, NFC tags and error analysis based on voice recognition, while the Smart Adapt function uses new washing programs - e.g. extra long rinse or disinfectant wash suitable for baby clothes - can be downloaded to a smartphone or the LCD panel of the washing machine. You can monitor the status of your smart washing machine on your smartphone and control the device remotely with voice commands. Washing programs can also be set, started or paused from the user's television.

The Smart Access function allows you to control the washing machine from anywhere. You no longer have to worry about leaving the washing machine there during a program, as Smart Access allows you to constantly check the condition of your washer and dryer. Functions and settings can also be controlled and changed remotely, and a notification is displayed on the user's smartphone when the wash or dry cycle is complete.

With the help of a smartphone and Wi-Fi connection, you can schedule the cleaning of the apartment remotely at any time with the help of a HOM-BOT vacuum cleaner. Thanks to the enhanced functions, the HOM-BOT can also be controlled with commands or voice commands via the remote control displayed on the smartphone screen. The camera of the HOM-BOT is also suitable for looking around the apartment from a distance or talking to family members. Like other smart devices, the HOM-BOT can be operated from LG Smart TVs.

LG's smart oven has Smart Access, Smart Adapt and Smart Diagnosis ™ functions, offering countless new cooking options. Users can monitor oven status, search for recipes, set different baking modes, and perform error analysis via Wi-Fi. Thanks to NFC technology, the oven can be programmed for the desired recipe without a Wi-Fi connection, and error analyzes can also be performed using a mobile phone. The LG Smart Oven can also be controlled with voice commands via a smartphone or LG Smart TV.
