More releases at the end of the year: Intel Pentium E5800, E6700 and E6800 retireLaunched in 2010 with 45nm manufacturing technology, the Pentium E5800, E6700 and E6800 processors (both tray and boxed) are worth the retreat.

These models are leaving Intel’s production lines to be replaced by newer, faster and cheaper chips, which is good news for Intel anyway, and for some customers as well. In 2011, we have to make friends with the fact that the LGA775 and Penryn’s time is running out and we’re going to come across fewer and fewer new processors from such families in stores. The advantage of this is that the manufacturer can push newer, Sandy Bridge-based tiles with more capacity, which can thus become cheaper as production itself becomes more and more cost-effective.

Of course, there’s no reason to panic for those looking to upgrade to the LGA775 either, Intel is still accepting orders for these three CPUs until Nov. 23 (this year), and shipping will be available for boxed SKUs until Dec. 20. In addition, retailers often tend to stockpile significant inventory, so presumably these copies will remain available next year (if not, we can still choose other types of LGA775 CPUs) Tray editions will still be available while stocks last.
