Nokia continues to dominate the mobile market
First quarter statistics.
In the first quarter of 2008, around 296,1 million mobile phones were sold worldwide. This represents a drop of 11,6% compared to the last quarter of 2007 (330,8 million), which was "doped up" by Christmas shopping.
Nokia devices are still the best-selling, with Samsung in second place and Motorola in third place. In the wake of the Finnish-Korean-American triumvirate, LG and Sony Ericsson are lohol.
Sales data (number of units and market share):
- Nokia: 115,5 million units (39,6%)
- Samsung: 46,3 million units (15,9%)
- Motorola: 27,4 million units (9,4%)
- LG: 24,4 million units (8,4%)
- Sony Ericsson: 22,3 million units (7,6%)
