Top 5 Cheap Phones from China - July 2018

Introductory

Last month I was a little lazy about the usual cheap phone recommendation, but I can’t relax anymore, I’ll show you five cheap but usable mobile phones again in July. Unfortunately, the forint has weakened since the beginning of the summer, but we still managed to find phones that are affordable and good.

If you’ve read my older testimonials, you may know that even cheap phones won’t let you have less than 2GB of memory. This month, I was also surprised, because it turned out that more and more phones with memory of not two but 100 GB are slipping into the cheap, $ 3 category, in fact, as you will see, we find a modern 18: 9 aspect ratio among them, and one that included the full HD display at this price.

So the bottom line is, even though it’s summer and cucumber season, you can still buy a good phone cheaply now!

Homtom HT37 Pro

Homtom HT37 Pro

Even now, as we will always be moving from cheaper to more expensive devices. That’s why there’s the Homtom phone here, too, which costs around $ 100, more specifically, if we want to split hairs, it costs $ 99,99.

This phone has a traditional line design, say a classic shaped mobile. Its size is lower than it is today, as the 5-inch diagonal is already almost small. This I think is a disadvantage for many, but I think it is an advantage. On the one hand, you need a smaller pocket, on the other hand, the HD resolution, ie 1280 x 720 pixel display, gives a nice picture with such a diagonal.

In terms of processor, the phone got the standard quad-core MediaTek solution, and the camera also got the quality we were used to in this category. We get 5 megapixels on the front and 8 megapixels on the back, which is not much, but we can still shoot quite good photos in sunny weather.

The interesting thing about the phone is the amount of RAM already mentioned in the introduction, which is not 2 but 3 GB. In my opinion, this will still be enough for most apps these days, plus the phone won’t be embarrassed even if we sometimes forget to close 1-2 apps.

Vernee Thor 4G

Vernee Thor 4G

The Vernee phone is not a new player in the market, so in our recommendations you can also meet him and his brother, the E-mobile phone with a large battery. This one without E won’t work for days on a single charge, plus it’s not very fresh since we offered it last year, but that doesn’t detract from its values, which also shows that it’s still on our list.

The Vernee phone has many valuable features that have made it one of the best-selling handsets in the manufacturer’s range. Here, for example, is the processor right away, which is pretty muscular in this category with its eight cores and 1,3 GHz clock. Then there’s the memory, which is not the minimum of 2, but the already perfectly usable 3 GB. The storage is 16 GB left here, which we think is already basic.

The device’s display is 5 inches, which will be loved by those who don’t tweak battery-sized phones. The resolution here is also HD, like the previous Xiaomi device. Cameras in the field are also a little better than the top-ranked mobile on the list. Although the selfie camera is only 5 megapixels here, we can shoot the pictures on vacation with a 13 megapixel solution on the back.

You can find the phone here for $ 100, or under 30 forints: Vernee Thor 4G

UMIDIGI A1 Pro

UMIDIGI A1 Pro

UMIDIGI is a moderately familiar brand at home, at least among Chinese manufacturers. We haven't seen a serious device from them yet, and the mobile to be unveiled now won't top it, it won't be a champion in any category, its only special feature is that the packaged hardware has been sorted very well, and the purchase price for it is tempting.

At first glance, at least based on the pictures, the UMIDIGI A1 Pro looks like a traditional phone with an aspect ratio of 16:9. But it's not, it already has a 5,5-inch, 18:9 display according to the new "fashion", although the resolution is only HD+, i.e. 1440 x 720 pixels. We won't compromise on the processor either, to keep the price low, it has a quad-core processor running at 1,5 GHz and a 570 MHz IMG PowerVR GE8100 graphics accelerator. The central unit into which these are integrated is a MediaTek MT6739 unit. Although we wouldn't think so because of the four cores, this is a relatively modern central chip that already supports the new 18:9 aspect ratio displays. Since it is made for the entry level, the graphics accelerator is sufficient for HD resolution, and this phone has just that. The integrated image processor has several types of noise reduction functions and hardware supports dual camera solutions.

The manufacturer also uses this, but there are two cameras on the back, which are 5 and 13 megapixels, so they suspect a color camera and a monochrome camera. On the front, the self-portraits work as an 5 megapixel photo person. The hardware is still closely related to the size of the memory and the built-in storage, the former 3-16 GB. Of course, it is worth pointing out that you can add two SIM cards and support the very important B20 800 MHz LTE band at home, so there is no barrier to using a fast mobile. Additional features include Face Detection, more specifically Screen Detection with Face Detection, which, according to the manufacturer's specifications, only takes up to 0,3 seconds.

The price of the phone is the same as a penny for the first two phones, again $ 99,99, and you can buy it here: UMIDIGI A1 Pro

OUKITEL K4000 Plus

OUKITEL K4000 Plus

This phone is “traditional” in everything, with only a plus in the battery area. Unfortunately, to keep the price low, the memory is only 2 GB, but at least we get 8 GB instead of 16 GB.

The display is completely standard 5 inches and the resolution is old school HD, i.e. 1280 x 720 pixels. As I wrote above on this diagonal, this resolution is also enough, as a smaller display results in a higher pixel density on a smaller screen.

The cameras have also fallen victim to the savings, although the 8 megapixels on the back are not bad, but the 2 on the front is a bit low. Here, in turn, is the battery, which has a capacity of no less than 4100 mAh, which is a lot in this category. True, this won't go without a phone outlet for a week either, but with normal use, there's a good chance we can pull it out with it for two days.

Unfortunately, I can't say anything else about it, it is also clear from the above that I dare to recommend it mostly to those for whom battery life is the most important and everything else is secondary.

If you are one of them, you can find it here: OUKITEL K4000 Plus

OVERVIEW U20 Plus

OUKITEL U20 Plus 2

Today's recommender was replaced by a second Oukitel phone. Although it only has 2GB of memory in addition to the quad-core processor, it has a big advantage over other mobiles, and that is its display.

The U20 Plus has got a slightly larger 5,5-inch display, which is of course based on IPS technology, with all its benefits. What highlights the line is its resolution, because with this device we finally get HD, not HD, but full HD resolution, i.e. a 1920 x 1080 pixel panel.

In the field of cameras, although we find a double solution on the back, the mobile does not boast. True, we can't expect much more in this price category, for example, compared to the previous Umidigi, the front 5 and the back 13 + 0,3 megapixels are even particularly strong. Sure, we’re not going to shoot award-winning photos either, but we can still take some nice pictures in good light during the holidays.

If you decide that the size and resolution of the display is most important to you, you can also find this phone for less than 30 thousand forints here: OVERVIEW U20 Plus
