Full screen Windows Live Messenger ads

It is reported that Microsoft plans to publish full-screen ads through Windows Live Messenger.

The latest version of Windows Live Messenger 2010 (15.3.2689.110) released last week is a test version that includes a new advertising option. When users first launch the client, they will encounter a video ad that will allow them to remove the ad (by clicking on the X).

The pop-up ad will be visible until the contact list is loaded, or we wait until the 30-second commercial is complete.

There will also be movie trailers, news and clips, and product advertisements through Microsoft's MSN Video service. The move is debatable because Microsoft can easily face criticism from Windows Live Messenger users. Although full-screen ads are still in the testing phase, Microsoft may offer a one-time payment option that allows users to remove ads.
