Tegra-based media player from Samsung

Devices using chips made with NVIDIA SoC technology are finally starting to fly.

Samsung won’t let the Zune HD and the new iPod touch go ahead, so they announced their own solution, which looks very promising. The new media player uses NVIDIA’s success-expected Tegra chip, which isn’t a bad choice. What we can currently know about the M1 model is that it weighs no more than 91 grams, is represented by a 3,3 ″-inch AMOLED display, provides a Flash-based 3D user environment, and its repertoire includes FM radio, Bluetooth and three will be available in sizes - already in terms of storage capacity: 8, 16 and 32 GB.

The M1 supports a wide range of media formats, including: MP3, AAC, MP4, OGG, WMQ, WAV, DivX and Xvid. The battery life doesn't seem like a sponge cake either, Samsung engineers say the device allows 30 hours of continuous music playback and 5 hours of uninterrupted video recording. All three versions will also be available in Europe, with distribution set to start towards the end of the month, with purchase prices hovering around € 235, € 290 and € 325 depending on each model.
