The renewed Nokia laboratory was handed over at the Budapest Technical College

In recent years, Nokia has supported the Budapest College of Technology with nearly HUF 20 million.

Nokia announced today that it has expanded its previous support for the IT Faculty of the Budapest College of Technology, János Neumann, and will provide additional funding of several million forints to the students of the Institute.

The market-leading Finnish mobile phone manufacturer opened its Nokia Laboratory at the Budapest College of Technology in 1998, and its IT faculty moved to a new building in May this year. The laboratory has also moved, and from the current donation (more than HUF 5 million), the Intelligent Systems and Mobile Informatics Section operating here can continue its education with 20 new and modern computers.
The Mobile Informatics specialization aims to keep pace with the rapid development and spread of mobile telecommunication systems, as well as its ever closer integration with informatics, especially Internet-based technologies, and prepares students for the application, operation and development tasks of mobile IT systems.

According to Péter Tóth, managing director of Nokia Networks: "Investing in education is extremely important for Nokia, as the future generation of experts will be formed from the growing generation. It is important that the students here get to know the most modern techniques and, of course, the most modern tools. In this way, they will have up-to-date knowledge during their work. All of this is especially true for Hungary. That is why we have decided to continue supporting technical higher education and allocate additional funds to support the next generation."

Looking forward to the engineers of the future, Nokia will maintain a close relationship with higher education institutions in Budapest and the countryside. In the framework of the cooperation, in addition to sponsorship activities aimed at continuously raising the standard of education, Nokia also provides students with the opportunity to do internships and, in the case of graduating students, professional support for diploma writing.

Dr. Dezső Sima, Director General of the Neumann Faculty, emphasized the growing importance of the cooperation between Nokia and the Neumann Faculty in the BSc and then MSc in Computer Science in one of the key areas of the future - mobile informatics. He emphasized the Faculty's efforts to further develop the Nokia Lab into a Mobile IT Competence Center and thanked Nokia for its significant, many years of support and cooperation.
