Id Software is no longer independent

ZeniMax Media has acquired id Software.

ZeniMax Media has taken over Texas Id Software, which has been known since its inception on February 1991, 1, through games that have matured into a series and the graphics engines that form the basis of them, such as Commander Keen, Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Quake and Rage. The company remains headed by John Carmack, who after the announcement failed to stress that despite the acquisition, everything continues in its own bed, so the transaction will not affect the already announced games: Rage will come in 2010, followed by Doom the fourth part, however, only from this game will ZeniMax Media take over the publishing rights, as Rage belongs to Electronic Arts.

Thanks to ZeniMax Media's millions of dollars - the exact amount has not been disclosed - id Software can start to grow on the one hand, and thanks to their support, the development time of games can be shortened, and the resulting revenue will satisfy both parties. By the way, in addition to id Software, ZeniMax Media owns game developers such as Bethesda Softworks, Vir2L Studios, Mud Duck Productions and ZeniMax Online Studios.
