Participants in the 2nd Startup Weekend, which closed on Sunday night, see the future mainly in technologies based on mobile applications.

The grand prize of the event went to an app called agentbird that facilitates communication between real estate agents and home seekers. At the same time, offline products also have a place in the startup world: the success of the audience was won by a design concrete cube that functions as a time capsule.

At Startup Weekend this weekend, nearly 60 young IT professionals developed 12 ideas in just 54 hours. At the event, which aims to put future startup companies on a springboard, the cream of the Hungarian IT and business world appeared. The jury included representatives from Microsoft, Ernst & Young and Colabs, among others, while the idea leaders were assisted by the founders of Weblib, Carnation and the Bonus Brigade.

The grand prize for the 3-day event was won by an app that helps connect real estate agents with potential buyers. The application called agentbird won the recognition for its good business model, convincing presentation and user-friendliness. Agentbird’s brainchilders were given the opportunity to introduce themselves to an investor day that closes the Colabs seed program on May 16th.

The audience award went to a project that can hardly be described as typical: Concrete, whose motto is Ultimate anti-cloud solution, would create a time capsule for posterity from design concrete cubes. At the same time, the idea is not completely far from the online world: the idea owners were inspired by the phenomenon of posting, which can typically be called the web, and I want to bring this to the offline space.

“At Startup Weekend, we focused primarily on creativity, but feasibility was also an important consideration. An interesting trend is that this year, young people were thinking almost exclusively of application-based IT solutions; this is a good indication that they have an up-to-date business sympathy, as the direction reflects market needs well. At the same time, the Beton project shows well that serious successes can be achieved with out-of-the-box ideas that are different from the mainstream, ”said Zsolt Bakó, co-founder of Colabs, organizer of Startup Weekend.
