Sony Playstation 3: 20% less power consumption

The Japanese electronics giant has undergone a minor redesign with a new model.

Sony significantly thanks to a manufacturing technology upgrade shortened Consumption of your Playstation 3 console. The development concerned a graphics processor codenamed RSX. The now obsolete 65 nm bandwidth technology has been replaced by the latest 40 nm. There are several benefits to this move. Due to the smaller core size and lower power consumption of the chip (due to this, of course, there was an immediate reduction in cooling and the power supply), the production cost was reduced. The new series cannot be distinguished from the old one by its appearance, but the name has changed from Cech-2000a to Cech-2100A. According to Pocket News measurements, 9 power was cut in standby mode, 13 during Blu-ray playback and 24 watts during games. Unfortunately, the new series has only appeared on the shelves of Japanese stores so far.
