PS3: Supported audio and video formats
As the November 3 premiere of the PlayStation 11 approaches, more and more official information will be posted on the World Wide Web about Sony’s next-generation console.
The PS3 optical drive supports BD-ROM, BD-R, BD-RE, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD + R, DVD + RW, CD-ROM, CD-R, and CD-RW media. read.
It supports the following formats of media files placed on disks:
- VIDEO: MPEG-1, MPEG-2 (PS, TS), H.264 / MPEG-4 AVC, MPEG-4 SP
- AUDIO: ATRAC (.oma, .msa, .aa3), AAC (.3gp, .mp4), MP3 and WAV
- PICTURES: JPEG, GIF, PNG and TIFF
