Panda's antivirus is beyond successful certification
Panda Software's new consumer application for home users and professionals, Panda Internet Security 2007, has been certified by Checkmark Antivirus Level 1 and 2 and Checkmark Trojan, respectively.
Checkmark certifications are awarded by West Coast Labs, an independent security solutions laboratory. These are voluntary tests where security companies such as Panda Software can also submit their products for detailed analysis to prove their effectiveness.
Checkmark Level 1 certifies that Panda Internet Security 2007 can detect all malicious code that is on the “In the Wild” list. The list is compiled by The Wildlist Organization from threats detected by several Wildlist reporters. Checkmark Level 2, on the other hand, indicates that Panda Software's solution, in addition to detecting malicious code that is also on the list, can eradicate it from the system. The basic idea of anti-virus also includes the view that a virus that has already been detected cannot be re-infected by the anti-malware system, and that an already infected file can be re-used properly after cleaning. The Checkmark Trojan certifies that Panda Internet Security 2007 is able to detect Trojans, malware that are often difficult to identify due to their nature.
