Sandy Bridge: priced

Expreview has found out the price for a number of new processors, among many other important pieces of information.

A table has been published summarizing some of the features of desktop processors built around the Sandy Bridge architecture. The first wave will arrive on January 9, when 10 pieces of four-core products will hit stores right away. The fastest of these will be the Core i7 2600K with its 3,4 GHz clock and $ 317 price tag. The slowest Quad-Core will be the Core i5 2400S, here the clock is only 2,5 GHz and we have to give up Hyper-Threading technology, it costs $ 195. The second wave, due on February 20, will feature members of the Core i3 series. Hyper-Threading is also supported here, but the total size of the caches will be only 8 MB instead of 3 MB and two of the kernels will be present instead of four. The prices and specifications for the different models are illustrated in the table below.

Intel is unwilling to neglect the Pentium brand either, so new members will be added to this series, with the same number of cores and cache size as the Core i3 series. The first such CPU, the Pentium G620 with its 2,2 GHz clock, will debut on February 27th. The other Pentium CPUs will be introduced in the second quarter of 2011.
