S3 Graphics: DX10 GPUs are coming!

S3 Graphics has pulled the veil off the Chrome 400 series.

With its Chrome 3 graphics processors, S400 Graphics is trying to gain a significant market share in the shadow of the two big ones, ATI and NVIDIA, and is not even trying to intervene in the battle of "watt-eating" Radeons and GeForces. When the 65 nm GPUs were created, the performance/consumption indicator floated before the eyes of the engineers. Accordingly, the chips are only suitable for games to a limited extent, but browsing through the technological arsenal we can clearly see that they are very pleasant, especially for office, home theater or portable computers S3 Graphics came up with recommended graphics processors:

  • Microsoft DirectX 10.1
  • Shader Model 4.1
  • OpenGL 2.1
  • unified shading architecture
  • 64-bit memory bus
  • AcceleRAM: graphics memory that can be expanded at the expense of system memory
  • ChromotionHD 2.0 Video Engine: hardware acceleration for playback of H.264, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, VC-1, WMV-HD and AVS format HD videos
  • AES 128 hardware encryption
  • VGA, DVI, HDMI or DisplayPort connection point (depending on version)
  • Advanced Power Management: automatically changing clock according to load, integrated temperature sensor

S3 Graphics comes with DX10 GPUs!

The specifications for the Chrome 400 graphics processors will certainly be known at the same time as the video cards built around it appear, which is in principle expected by the end of February.
