TSMC hay is bad

Taiwan’s Semiconductor Manufacturing Company’s (TSMC) 28nm production lines are far from performing as expected.

TSMC hay is bad 1

Scarce manufacturing capacity primarily affects Qualcomm, AMD and NVIDIA products. Given the shortfall, Qualcomm has decided to address some of its orders to UMC (United Microelectronics Corporation), but has not been able to meet demand for its products.

AMD launched the Radeon HD 7970 graphics card in the first quarter, but due to capacity issues, shipping was very limited.

The GeForce GTX 680, which launched at the end of March, did extremely well, but NVIDIA's smile is still not sincere. Due to TSMC stumbles, additional Kepler-based video cards are not expected to appear until later. This slippage, of course, is hurting the California-based company, as its main rival has already broken into the available (bb) price categories.

According to the news, the output of the 28 sqm production lines is slowly but steadily improving, but the shortage affecting production capacity will only disappear in the third quarter.
