The SEAGO SG-507 is a typical example of the good cheap principle.

Introductory

I’ve been using an electric toothbrush for years, even the battery-powered, vibrating version of Oral-B. I really like real Oral-B quality. For one thing, I was never reconciled to the price. Or there was one more thing that pierced my eyes. For me, usually the bristles of the toothbrushes don’t wear out too quickly. I don’t press the brush hard on my teeth, but I try to clean it thoroughly. With the Oral-B toothbrush on a regular basis, essentially every time the battery runs out first, and the thing is handled so skillfully that it is not possible to replace the completely conventional AAA battery in it. This is extremely annoying, as this is why many thousands of forints have to be spent again.

When I saw the Seago toothbrush on the GearBest side, that’s exactly what ran through my brain. After a brief calculation, it turned out that this electric toothbrush costs as much as an irreplaceable battery-powered Oral-B, plus it knows so much more. Let's start there, it's chargeable from USB!

Packaging and exterior

The Seago SG-507 came in a box that would stand on the shelf of any store. Sure, the Chinese crap, which could have been made by any world company, could no longer be traced here, at least on the basis of the box. He proudly announces that he is vibrating 40 per minute, and that he knows 5 different ways to brush his teeth. To make sure that’s not enough, it works for 4 weeks on a single charge. If I had to make a decision based only on what was on the box and knowing the price, I would have bought this toothbrush for a pound.

When you open the box, the plastic tray slides out, with the toothbrush, the charging cable in it and, of course, there are two spare heads next to it. We could say that, knowing my brushing practice with the three heads attached - because there is also one on the toothbrush - the stuff will last forever and it will serve for another day, though by then I may not have any teeth at all.

The toothbrush

The Seago SG-507 gives the impression of total quality. You still don’t have to be ashamed, after the box the structure also looks good. Its total length is 22,5 centimeters and the base is 2,5 centimeters in diameter, so you don’t have to keep it in a glass, it stops well on the shelf as well. The head with the bristles is 2 inches, which I cut at first because I am used to toothbrushes with larger heads, but later, during use, I realized that a larger head would not be very useful.

The replaceable heads and the bottom of the toothbrush with the motor and battery can be black or white, I chose black with a gold frame around the power button. In the white version, it is silver. Fortunately, the "gilded" part is matte, so it does not create a bazaar impression, rather it looks good on the black body. At the head, the plastic is glossy, at the bottom it is matte and thinly covered with an anti-slip coating. Below the power button, you can find the indicators for the five operating modes, they light up white, of course only when the pictogram of the selected operating mode is present.

The base of the toothbrush is made of rubber, relatively hard. This rubber cover also has two roles, one is that the toothbrush is on it and doesn’t slip on it, the other is to find the USB connector under which we can charge it.

Use

As you may have read above, the Seago toothbrush recognizes 5 different ways of brushing your teeth. They are in line:

  • Bleaching
  • Cleaning
  • Sensitive, ie gentle
  • Polishing, ie polishing
  • Massage

There is a single button on the toothbrush to turn it on and off and toggle between modes. If it is turned on and not pressed within 5-10 seconds, pressing it again will turn it off. If not waiting, it jumps one mode between the presses after the power is turned on.

  • When bleaching, the toothbrush operates at a high pitch, probably operating at maximum vibration in this mode.
  • When cleaning, the vibration number is lower and a very noticeable puffing is included, ie the vibration number changes only slightly.
  • The gentle wash shows the same barely noticeable puffing, but the vibration number is even lower than in the previous case.
  • When polishing, two vibration numbers change at a rapid rate, probably between the fastest and the gentle wash.
  • During the massage, the alternation is much slower, the vibration number can vary between the cleansing and the gentle mode, at least by ear.

The toothbrush has another extra. According to research, a thorough brushing takes no less and no more than 2 minutes. The Seagoo toothbrush helps us make this really true. After switching on the buckle, the vibration stops for about 1 to 2 tenths of a second every half minute. The manufacturer recommends dividing both the lower and upper dentures to the right and left, so that you add half and a half minutes to the bottom and top of each side. This allows us to evenly distribute the two-minute period that the brushing needs to be held.

Experience

As I wrote in the introduction, I have used a vibrating toothbrush so far, but the difference between and between heaven and earth. It’s hard to compare them because while the Oral-B’s toothbrush is a bit like a normal toothbrush with some low-vibration mode, the fast vibration is noticeably effective at Seago.

As I wrote at first, the small head was weird, but while brushing my teeth I soon realized that a larger head would be downright confusing. In cleansing, but especially in the strongest whitening mode, it doesn’t feel best for the toothbrush head to touch our other tooth with its hard part. Not painful, but confusing. In the case of a larger head, this would be inevitable, so it is only a matter of habit, the second use did not happen during such brushing.

What takes habit, however, is the thick stem. I have easily rotated and moved my normal toothbrushes between my fingers so far, but this is not possible. True, brushing yourself changes using this toothbrush. Due to the vibrating mode, it is no longer necessary to pull the toothbrush head on the surface of our joint with wide movements, it cleans perfectly well even when gently moved.

I can't say too much interesting about the cleansing effect. I’ve been brushing my teeth frequently so far, and so I do, so I didn’t have to tear a thick plaque off my teeth. At the same time, of course, the cleanliness can be felt after brushing, so for my part, I appreciate the cleansing effect.

SEAGO SG 507 11

I have mixed feelings about the modes. I’m not saying they’re not good, it’s just that for me, the massage feature, for example, is completely unnecessary. In particular, I don't usually massage mine with the toothbrush, why would we massage our teeth. The sensitive function I think comes in handy for those whose bleeding gums or teeth have already pulled back from the neck, so the dentin is free and the pain stimulus gets to the dental nerves in the dentinal canals. So I tend to alternate the first two modes, usually using normal cleaning, and bleaching every 3-4 days.

Summary

I bought this toothbrush mainly because of its price. You can get a toothbrush at a similar price in domestic stores, but those are usually swivel heads that I don’t like, plus they don’t know anything other than having a power button on them. Not to mention that there is no spare head for that money, not two, but none.

SEAGO SG 507 2

I had to get used to the thick handle and a different method of brushing my teeth than before, but that’s how we take any motorized toothbrush. Their use is fundamentally different from the use of a traditional toothbrush, the only similarity is that here and there we also use toothpaste and rummage in the mouth with some bristle head. However, while the electric toothbrush is moving with gentle movements and the motor is doing its thing, we are moving with wider movements than the conventional brush.

The Seagoo SG-507 has worked for me, it has lived up to my expectations. I’ve been using it for four weeks now and I’m used to it, I fell in love with it. The price of the toothbrush is currently HUF 4000, which means that it is really in the absolutely affordable category. And shipping can even be free if you choose.
