Medical advice in pharmacies using Cisco TelePresence

The Cisco TelePresence system connects the patient with physicians at the Swiss telemedicine center, MEDGATE. The connection is provided by an EX90 system with a microphone, camera and a full-HD display on both sides.Medical advice in pharmacies using Cisco TelePresence

During the consultation, the doctor and the patient see and hear each other in the same way as in a personal meeting. The system has a touch screen for easy use.

Cisco and Swisscom Swiss Switzerland make the Cisco TelePresence video communications system available at 200 Swiss pharmacies. Under a two-year pilot project called netCare, patients can take part in a medical consultation called a triad via video link. The TelePresence system can be expanded with additional devices if required. These include diagnostic tools and an additional monitor that measures the patient's heart rate, blood pressure, and body temperature after connection.

Maximum security, privacy and efficiency

The flow of information between the patient and the doctor is through a secure, high-speed connection. Cisco TelePresence provides optimized, secure data transfer that fully protects users' identities. In order to protect the patient's personal data, the medical examination takes place in a separate room and doctors and pharmacists are bound by confidentiality. The project was launched by the Swiss Pharmacists' Association, pharmaSuisse, together with MEDGATE and the Helsinki Health and Accident Insurance Company.
