Opteron processor to Quad FX motherboard!

Advanced Micro Devices Opteron 2200 server processors are compatible with the ASUS Quad FX motherboard.

During the study, two 2,6 GHz Opteron 2218 processors were placed in the test. ASUS L1N64-SLI motherboard with 1207 pin Socket F sockets. The BIOS immediately and correctly recognized the two CPUs and did not report any errors.

Another interesting feature of the test was that there were standard 667 MHz DDR2 modules in the computer, as opposed to the DDR2 ECC memories required by motherboards developed for AMD server processors, which cost approximately twice as much.

Although the ASUS Quad FX motherboard is no longer cheap fun in itself, by using Opteron 2200 CPUs, we can significantly reduce the cost of the platform. An example is the 1,8 GHz Opteron 2210, which costs around $ 200 a piece, which is about $ 150 less than the 2,6 GHz Athlon 64 FX-70 processor.
