Open Source 2011 - Fighting Technologies

On February 24, the B2B brand of IDG Hungary Kft., Computerworld, will hold a conference entitled Open Source 2011 - The Battle of Technologies in the Arena Plaza Cinema City. Attendance at the conference is free.

 

The utilization of open source solutions in Hungary has still not reached the level that would be justified by its business and technological opportunities. The primary goal of the event is therefore to present the opportunities, advantages and limitations of open source systems to potential users of the domestic market - be they micro-enterprises, small and medium-sized enterprises, large companies or government institutions.

One of the important goals of the government ICT strategy presented at the end of last year, the Digital Renewal Action Plan, is to increase the share of open source software in the government sector, which means government computers running open source operating systems on the one hand. .org) increase the proportion of government employees. The importance of this governmental goal was emphasized by the Secretary of State for Infocommunications of the Ministry of National Development, dr. Zsolt Nyitrai, when he took over the patronage of the event.

In the morning session of the conference, in addition to several important market participants, Vilmos Vályi-Nagy, Deputy State Secretary for Government Informatics of the Ministry of National Development, ODFA (Open Ducument Format Alliance) Hungary, and dr. Eszter Telek is also a software license expert.
The work will take place in three sections in the afternoon. The corporate section will cover the role of education, the international position of open source, enterprise services for open source systems, the use of the Drupal Commons system in an enterprise environment, and the audit of open source systems.

In the government section, Gábor Fekete, Deputy State Secretary for e-Government (Ministry of Public Administration and Justice), will present how to integrate open source into the e-government concept. The speakers will also present ongoing projects and innovative developments, and of course the eternal question will be discussed: how to save with open source systems. 
As the engines of open source systems are developers, a separate section deals with the issue of open source development. Technology, development models, and business will be discussed here, meaning they will talk about where the work invested in open source can pay off.

The organizers of the conference are mainly professionals and decision-makers from the corporate and public spheres who are looking for an economical solution to their IT problems and are interested in the opportunities offered by open systems.
And they want to provide a forum for developers where professionals working on different projects can share their experiences and broaden their horizons.
