NVIDIA - Will the GeForce GTX 295 be renewed?

The renewable GTX 295 is based on a single printed circuit board, but its other specifications remain unchanged.

After the GTX 295 completed its mission, in Hungarian rammed into the ground the HD 4870 X2, which had dominated for months as a monarch - which was certainly good for the company’s battered reputation - was believed by some sources to be that NVIDIA had stopped production of the dual-core Throne. However, the throne could not only be realized in the various benchmarks or in the gaming software considered authoritative in the industry, as the GTX has a suggested retail price of $ 295. for a short time outperformed the HD 4870 X2. Aggressive pricing has, of course, resulted in loss-making production, but NVIDIA has deliberately sacrificed all of this to make their graphics card not only as fast as possible on the market, but its price range is also favorable.

Relying on Expreview's information, we can provide positive news regarding the future of the video card, because according to the latest rumors, NVIDIA has only frozen the project temporarily, the GTX 295 will indeed return, but with an essential change. The "wafer" solution that has been popularly used until now (e.g. 9800 GX2, 7950 GX2) will be replaced by a single printed circuit board, similar to AMD's dual-core ATI Radeons.

The size of the PCB does not change despite the intervention, the length of the video card accordingly remains the same 267 mm, the energy hunger of the product - in addition to PCI Express - is again satisfied by a 6-pin and an 8-pin power connector. Dual slot cooling is also aided by a more even heat distribution backplane for the reference cards, which was also discovered on previous GTX 295 type graphics controllers, however, this add-on was only used on special versions. Measures to reduce production costs will certainly be reflected in the end-user price of the product, but we will have to wait a while longer to confirm this line of thinking, as the new GTX 295 will be available in May at the earliest.
