NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 Preliminary Test
The new cannon of the greens will only appear in 5 days, but the first test has already been released on the internet.
TweakTown staff were in the fortunate position of putting an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 video card on the test bench before it was released. Based on preliminary test results, AMD again faces a terribly good controller, although the consumption indicators they developed quite interestingly. Unfortunately, the pricing of the card is still unknown, and the testing did not cover the efficiency of the cooling system or overdrive, but it still gives a good insight into the expected performance, and we have no doubts about the authenticity of the source.
Based on the information, the number of CUDA cores in the GK670 chip used on the GeForce GTX 104 was reduced to 1344, i.e. one SMX was disabled. Due to the latter, the controller can manage 128 texturing units instead of 112, and the GPU clock has dropped to 915 MHz, but the operating frequency of the memories at 6,0 GHz is unchanged, which is definitely a cause for confidence. Overall, we can say that there was no significant vascular cut at all. The newcomer is sometimes staggeringly close to the current top-of-the-line GPU card, the GeForce GTX 680. If there are no problems with the amount of cards shipped, it is easy to imagine that AMD will have to start cutting prices again.
The test is shown on the next page.
