MSI has not saved cooling on this product!

Up to four M.2 drives can be installed in the expansion card.

The MSI M.2 Xpander-AERO is eerily similar to a graphics card for several reasons: it is equipped with a PCI Express interface, and the cooler is played by the company's design called AERO. By default, the latter handles 50 watts of heat when connected to external power, which jumps to 75 watts - making it clear that M.2 SSDs will not overheat even under long-term load. So MSI here didn't trust the thing very much now, it was necessary on some level, as M.2 Shield, to put it mildly, didn't gain much recognition. The massive cooling has two sockets, it will not hurt to keep this in mind for the prospective owner.

The expansion card is included with the MSI X399 MEG Creation motherboard and will be available as a standalone package in a few months.
