AM2 processors will not be fast enough

There may be little compared to Intel Core’s architecture for the upcoming Hammer generation.

Inquirer staff had the opportunity to try out the first copies of the CPUs that fit into the new socket: they all operated at 2,4 GHz with DDR2-800 memories. Tests showed only a 3-5 percent increase in favor of new systems, largely due to faster memory.

AMD also stated that the tested chips have already come out of the final revision, so we can expect more growth at most from the clocks - looking at the Conroe cores, that’s very little.

The manufacturer is very fortunate that Intel cannot produce too much of its core units based on the Core architecture yet. According to released schedules, processors will account for only 10 percent in the third quarter and 20 percent in the fourth quarter.
