Apple does not own the iPhone name in Mexico

A Mexican court has already ruled on the issue in a previous judgment that Ifone SA owns the iPhone trademark. Apple has appealed, but now the Mexican Supreme Court has also upheld the earlier decision.

Ifone SA registered the trademark as early as 2003, and Apple only began marketing the iPhone four years later. Although Ifone SA does not manufacture smartphones but sells communication systems and services, the fact remains that the trademark registration took place earlier, so in theory, local mobile operators cannot sell Apple iPhones.
