We have a NAS on the network

First of all, it's worth noting that for a network device - and other devices, of course - we like the interface to be easy to use and clear. There is absolutely no need to access the various functions in a thousand steps, or even to over-complicate the functions, thus convincing the user that he is dealing with NASA-level hardware.

And once we’ve clarified that, I have to describe how we love the NS348S interface! Clean, transparent and clear. It takes about 5 minutes to set up, yet we’re running through the steps now, accompanied by screen savers, of course. The first step is to install the hard disk, and then bring the device to life by connecting the power supply and the LAN cable. Needless to say, though, we do, the NAS is operated through a router. Once connected, we will launch the NetTool program on the included CD and make the NAS available on the network in no time.

We are done with this, by typing the IP address of the device into the browser, we will find ourselves in the menu. It is healthiest to format the hard drive in the Tools menu so that all functions are now available.

At LAN and System, we access settings that we have already set up with NetTool, so don't waste time doing so. FTP Server is what we can start our home FTP service here. Not much explanation is needed for this either.

In USB, you can manage connected USB devices, and in Users, you can specify users. Users can be authorized according to three predefined orders. You either don’t get the right to anything, or you get the right to read, or you get the right to read and write. I think that's enough.

Under Share, you can share files, while under Media, you can turn on the UltraPNP media server, which can be accessed from different devices, to make it easier to access multimedia content.

Again, the BitTorrent client does not need to be explained, especially since we also include an image. We can simply browse the torrent files from our machine, then the task will be added to the list, we will start and the download will take place.

Let's take a look at the Tools menu! The top point allows you to schedule the NAS to start or stop. The Restart point is clear, the Harddisk Utility has already been used for formatting. At FW Upgrade, you can upgrade the NAS software from your machine. Again, the Save Config and Factory Default points do not need to be explained. What’s even more noteworthy is the lowest Email Sending point. Here you can set the address to which the NAS should send warning messages that may be about a device malfunction or burglary attempt, i.e. any event that deserves special attention.
