Lenovo has introduced a PC for the living room

The Q700 configuration can be a true home appliance.

In addition to minor restrictions, the device, which can also be used as an HTPC, is made in the spirit of uniformity, which can be achieved in both the design and construction of the machine. The former is realized in the world of design operating with classic style features, and the latter is realized in the largely fixed hardware construction. However, we have no worries, as Lenovo's engineers have chosen the components well: the Q700's CPU is an Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200 with adequate performance for each of the possible applications, which comes with 4 GB of DDR2 memory. This time, the Intel X4500 motherboard-integrated solution, which has been equipped with HDMI output by the engineers, is responsible for the graphics acceleration. Our data can be stored on a hard disk with a maximum capacity of 640 GB, but we also have the option of archiving important data to a DVD, thanks to an optical drive that can also write discs.

The only point of attack in a configuration equipped with a TV tuner as well as a Vista MCE compatible Philips remote control may be the integrated graphics core, especially considering that the manufacturer website also sets the device to run games. Despite the obvious slippage, the use of Intel’s graphics subsystem also carries significant positives, such as low heat generation and power consumption, features that are far from incidental in a living room configuration. The same can be said for the metal cover covering the inside of the device, which is designed to prevent electromagnetic noise from entering the machine. Thanks to the technology, both the sound and the image produced can be free from interference from the radiation of electronic devices, which can bring a significant quality improvement over a PC with a classic design.

A list of optional components for the machine is yet to be found, but Lenovo has also added a quad-core CPU, DDR3 system memory, and a 1 TB hard disk to the product website, which anticipates the launch of additional versions that are significantly more powerful.

We still have to wait for the launch of the Lenovo Q700 with Windows Vista Home Premium, but according to the leaked information about the expected purchase price of the product, the amount corresponding to the basic configuration will have to be left at the checkout for about 94 thousand forints.
