Big changes in the parcel delivery market

Sprinter sees past and future changes in the parcel delivery market primarily in the emergence of the Internet and online stores, as well as responses to changing market situations.to pack gold According to the company, in the next 5 years, only four to five players can remain in this field: those who develop in collaboration with online commerce participants.

In the last few years, despite the crisis, the company has almost tripled its net sales: in 2008 it was HUF 560 million, in 2011 it was HUF 1,2 billion, and in 2012 it was already 20% higher than in the previous year, HUF 1,5 billion. in its balance sheet. The successful business delivered 2012 million packages in 2, nearly 25 percent higher than the previous year. Sprinter sees the basis for the significant change in parcel delivery habits primarily in the expectations of online commerce. Courier companies that have been able to support this development and are open to joint developments with e-merchants are successful companies. The company puts together 1 million packages for its clients every year.

For a few decades, getting customers to the package safely has been a priority. At the beginning of the 2000s, the cost of shipping a package cost thousands of forints, today it has fallen below an average of 1 forints. Nowadays, in addition to price, the most important thing for customers is the speed and accuracy of the delivery forecast, i.e. predictability.

"The rise of internet shopping and the changed market brought a new environment and opportunities to the parcel delivery market players. This is also the primary trigger for the rapid and successful development of the sector. In addition to personal, home or office pick-up, we see the near future in pick-up at fixed points; with this solution and our further developments, the range of possibilities for our customers and primarily for our clients operating in the web trade expands," said András Rácz, Sprinter's managing director. He then added: the package delivery market is expected to develop in direct proportion to or even more than the increase in traffic of online stores. But within five years, only 4-5 players will remain on their feet among the package delivery companies: those who develop tailored to the needs of online commerce, are innovative and provide a good value for money service. Success can be based on these factors.

According to surveys, products worth HUF 2012 billion were traded on the Hungarian e-commerce market in 177. Turnover in this area is expected to exceed HUF 2013 billion by 200, and we can expect an annual growth of at least 10 percent. Last year, more than a third of Hungarian webshops (numbering 5-6 thousand) increased their sales by 50 percent compared to the previous year. For this reason, among others, the company will focus on product development in 2013 and plans to become the best service provider for the B2C segment in the field of e-commerce. Sprinter plans further growth and HUF 1,7 billion in sales by the end of this year.
