Utilizing MWC, MediaTek has announced a new mid-range chip that will be the top challenge for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 in terms of performance. Of course, this wouldn't be an interesting thing to do, much more so that artificial intelligence will also appear in it, and it will also support camera sensors with an extreme number of pixels.

The new P30 SoC will be manufactured at TMSC’s plants with 12-nanometer manufacturing technology and will also receive MediaTek’s CorePilot 4.0 technology. The CPU gets a ten-core processor with four high-performance Cortex-A73 cores in the top cluster. Next to the processor is an ARM Mali-G72 GPU with three performance-optimized image processing units (ISPs).

In addition to these, we will also find a multi-core artificial intelligence processor in the central chip. The AI Mobile APU will help improve the performance of the entire system, its operation will also affect the CPU, GPU, VPU and DLA. The chip, like MediaTek’s new solutions, has improved multimedia capabilities. As a result, the built-in image processor can work with high-resolution image sensors up to 32 megapixels, or if the manufacturer builds a dual-camera phone, it can handle two 16- or 20-megapixel solutions.

The chip also reports that the chip's power consumption is reduced compared to its predecessors, in which the new DOF engine will play a major role. The energy hunger of the three performance-optimized image processors mentioned above has been reduced by 500 milliwatts, an improvement of roughly 18 percent over previous-generation chips. Another interesting thing is that the P60 supports FHD resolution displays as well as 20: 9 aspect ratio solutions. This heralds the arrival of the new generation of phones that will be truly frameless on all four sides and further extend the display of today’s modern 18: 9 aspect ratio mobiles.
