Which is the most secure browser?
NSS Labs once again conducted an investigation into the performance of browsers against deceptive malicious malware. According to the survey, Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) filters out 96% of infections.
The Internet exposes your computer to a number of threats that are primarily protected by browsers - in addition to the protection provided by antivirus programs. Bruce Hughes, an expert at AVG Technologies, said "users are four times more likely to be victims of a fraudulent attack than a vulnerability-based attack." In these cases, IE9 comes in handy and is designed to withstand these threats.
According to a current report from NSS Labs, Internet Explorer 9 has further strengthened its position in protection against malicious malware. According to a global survey by the NSS, IE9 detects and disarms 96% of malware using the SmartScreen URL and the remaining 3,2% using Application Reputation. The graph below shows that Internet Explorer scans five times more malware than its competitors compared to other browsers:
In addition, not only is efficiency outstanding, but speed has also increased - since the October 2010 NSS Labs report, SmartScreen has blocked viruses 28% faster and the Application Reputation alert is 85% shorter.
