The Microsoft Store was also inaugurated

Originally launched as super secure, Symantec discovered eight applications that performed cryptomining operations without requiring user consent.

The eight applications have been published by three developers, but there is strong evidence that they can be linked to a single person or group. The programs received 2018 evaluations from April 1 until the end of the year, although there is no doubt that these were entirely real reports - they were probably also trying to influence the numbers with false profiles. Unfortunately, it was not known how large the number of installations varied, and Microsoft did not provide any information in this regard.

According to Symantec, the main problem was that these applications did not inform users in the privacy policy that after downloading, they would use the central unit of that machine for virtual mining. After informing the company, which is known for its security solutions, Microsoft has deleted the apps in question, so they are no longer available in the store. The case is certainly instructive in that it has been proven that the Microsoft Store does not provide perfect protection against malware either, so caution does not hurt here either.
