ASUS launches new PCI Express® 3.0 motherboards: ROG Maximus IV GENE-Z / GEN3 and P8Z68 / GEN3 Series

Updated hardware and native UEFI BIOS support for Intel® next-generation 22nm processors.

For the first time in the industry, the ASUS ROG Maximus IV GENE-Z / GEN3 and P8Z68 / GEN3 series motherboards fully support the PCI Express® 3.0 standard. For customers looking to upgrade to PCI Express® 3.0 in the future, new motherboards that have passed lab quality, reliability and performance testing come with an updated hardware specification and offer native UEFI BIOS support for Intel®'s next-generation 22-nanometer processors. These motherboards can not only be used with PCs using today's PCI Express® 2.0 hardware, but are also prepared for future technology upgrades.

Motherboards that support next-generation Intel® processors

The new generation PCI Express® 3.0 standard doubles performance from 16 GB / s to 32 GB / s on the same 16x physical connection. However, this requires enhanced components: a motherboard with a PCI Express® 3.0 switch IC, and a circuit design that withstands compatibility and performance tests, stable data connection monitoring measurements with a new generation 22nm Intel® CPU, and using a compatible UEFI BIOS.
