Xiaomi's 360-degree camera has arrived!
When someone says sports camera, everyone immediately jumps into some little column or cube, a tiny lens and a waterproof case. Nowadays, it’s perfectly normal for these little things to be able to make videos in full HD, good quality, and the more expensive pieces aren’t far from 4K resolution either. However, the future is probably not theirs, but Xiaomi’s novelty that has just appeared, and like-minded peers.
What does the Xiaomi mijia 3.5K camera know? On the one hand, it carries excellent hardware, which we will detail in detail, and on the other hand, it carries two lenses. These are located on the opposite side of the camera, each with a viewing angle of 190 degrees, which is a total of 380 degrees. The full circle is 360 degrees, which means that this camera does take full 360 degree videos, in high definition.
Xiaomi has been said several times that it stands out among the average Chinese manufacturers in terms of both quality and design. Unfortunately, this is also reflected in the price of the products. However, we must not forget that the Xiaomi is built predominantly on hardware components such as the well-known Western European or American competitors, but they are much cheaper.
Let's see what the Xiaomi mijia 3.5K has to offer! The housing itself has an aluminum frame and the camera has IP67 water resistance. The chipset is Ambarella A12, next to which there are two Sony IMX 206 1 / 2.3 inches image sensors. These two have a resolution of 16 megapixels.
Since it's a sports camera, you can't miss the shock protection either! The camera has a built-in six-way shock protection that can be used to filter out vibrations caused by movement, whether it’s skiing, cycling or any other extreme sport. The recordings can be made on a micoSD card, of which up to 128 GB can be used.
Our videos are compressed into h.264 container format by the camera, the available resolutions and image updates are as follows:
- 2304 x 1152 (30fps)
- 2304 x 1152 (60fps)
- 3456 x 1728 (30fps)
The price remained at the end, which, as it is not a dozen items, is a little more than usual, in the introductory campaign it is 276 dollars, or roughly 80 thousand forints. That’s roughly two-thirds the price of a traditional GoPro Hero 5 - which can’t take 360-degree shots - which doesn’t seem like much anymore.
