The HD 5000 series will no longer be expanded

The fudzilla visited several ATI partners for the duration of a quick interview.

There is virtually no chance of another HD 5000 series graphics card coming out. There are several reasons for this. Most importantly, the Radeon HD 5970 is the fastest card on the market. The second factor is that the Cypress chip (RV870) no longer has adequate tuning potential. Although the graphics processor is capable of reaching 1GHz clock speeds, however, the system’s bottleneck is memory bandwidth. As a result, the overdriven Radeon HD 5870 cards no longer provide substantial acceleration, which precludes the appearance of a possible HD 5890.
Further developments will focus on the next generation models already available at the end of 2010. The HD 40 product line, which is expected to be based on 6000nm manufacturing technology, will have to withstand NVIDIA’s video cards coming out this summer.
