Our reader met with a Chinese phone and soon became a bondage!

LEAGOO KIICAA MIX - the phone that has nestled in my life

Thanks to another article from our readers, we can get an insight into what it is like to be the son of a man to own a cheap but well-talented Chinese phone. We ourselves, in the testimonials we have written, have repeatedly asked why not everyone buys a LEAGOO KIICAA MIX phone, as it had data on paper and a price tag with a nice amount next to it, which made it a perpetual podium in the best buy category. The following article shows how much you can believe the specification and whether KIICAA was really such a good buy. We also give the floor to Peter, to whom we thank you very much for sharing your experience with us!

It's here, I got out, we met

What a denial, this is an interesting phone! Despite being a "no name" in Hungary, the son of man proudly takes it out, no matter what company he's in. Despite its unbranded nature, it does not result in disapproving glances, but in some cases gives rise to appreciatively curious glances. And in this case, the little cheap good also gives pride. In addition to being really practical.

And how did this LEAGOO phone get stuck in my life?

Unlike the need for warranty repair of my previous - otherwise quite branded - work phone. I needed another device in the meantime. What then stuck with me as my everyday tool has almost increased since last fall.

This whole story began with the release of LEAGOO KIICAA MIX in the Far East, last September, the best time ever. As time went by, the expiration of the warranty of my old phone came to an end, it was not possible to postpone the service. But with the help of a friend, he soon managed to order such a MIX clone at the start of the beginnings, very favorable, at 109, - $. But since it did not come from a European warehouse, of course the VAT and the postal handling fee had come, but it was still a ridiculously cheap phone compared to the domestic price of other devices that they knew.

When he arrived, I unpacked with childlike joy, I found both his appearance and his knowledge interesting. The pin-sharp 5,5-inch 16: 9 aspect ratio FHD screen, the slim frame along the top and side edges, but I even liked the discreet size. The latter was very important to me, as I would not be a very big individual, so if I wanted to reach the diagonally upper part of the screen with my thumb in a more outstretched motion, it would certainly not be possible with a shovel-sized phone! So at first I even thought this phone width was good (not today! - I want it much narrower again).

Its length, on the other hand, thanks to the almost borderlessness of the three sides, results in a really normal, well-used size. Pld. it can also be slipped into a pocket by completely absorbing the trouser or shirt pocket. This is good! Although it has two interesting features due to this interesting aspect ratio. One is that a person who is more receptive to mobiles can easily find a person who, based on their aspect ratio, realizes that it is such a MIX phone, even if it is only in my hand during a vigorous arm movement, he didn’t even have to look at the screen. Well, that's good, and it's not, he chooses.

But it is certain that the MIX farmers are getting close to club members. (My friend of DOOGEE MIX was almost happy to look at mine.)

Another peculiarity of this size is to find a protective case almost unavoidable in everyday mobile shops. But with some follow-up, this was also possible, thanks to a huge case-size case in the case-shop range.

The package itself actually included a silicone back cover (in addition to the sim tray needle, foils, charger, tabs, and description in its simple little cardboard box), but this silicone case is typically the kind of crappy thing without which the phone is much more more cultured in appearance. It is made of material that looks yellow at first glance, its buttons are just thinned and of course its thickness would increase the handy practical dimensions so much that it would not be possible to grip the phone well with one hand afterwards. Ergo I have never used and will never snap this case up! It’s good for one thing, and that is that the dual camera protruding heavily from the back doesn’t cause the phone on the table to wobble - the silicone case is just as thick that the back of the encased phone is flat when the camera block is cut out. So I was looking for a sliding leather case with a nice look and good protection of the phone at the front and back.

Of course, in the meantime, the commissioning of the phone has started. Due to my previous habit, I used to use only a two-card phone, but also in such a way that the ringing of both cards and any signals would be different. The sound for both sims can be muted separately and set separately. This used to be a matter of course for a Dual-Sim Samsung, I get used to the good. Then, for my next Huawei, I had to consider it my unique luck with my Android 5, thanks to its own additional interface.

Well, in the case of LEAGOO, when I first turned it on, I didn't know how to set it up, so I quickly put a "dual-ringtone" application on it. Although probably unnecessary, because this is an Android 7 and now it can easily manage the sounds separately for each card. I don't even know why, but as a result, my phone became properly split in two by card.

Joy and happiness!

During the setup, I couldn’t handle much of it right away, maybe due to what’s new in droid 7, e.g. the content of the messages on the lock screen was always roaring there, unable to remain silent with a friendly wink - but this could also be solved with some menu searching. I also managed to set up both cards in all areas, but I bothered to transfer my numbers saved to my previous device a bit. However, interestingly, LEAGOO’s Android was also able to communicate with HiSuite software with Huawei’s own computer interface, so I saved the numbers from here. Since then, at least I know I have a good security background in case of any kind of crash!

So the phone has become usable. I started to get used to it in a few days, but in the process, the unpleasant little things that came out of the size-saving design came out, or just because it's such a cheap phone. Such is the HOME button below the screen. Which, if it weren't there, the whole look would be very strangely asymmetrical, after all, it wouldn't be clear why there's a thicker kava below. But this way, because of the presence of the oval button, it doesn't even make you look at why it looks that way, it gives the impression that it was worth following this design for that reason alone.

leagoo kiicaa mix 12

Of course, in my ignorance, at first I only used this as a fingerprint sensor and did not use the additional functions. As a fingerprint reader, it is moderately accurate and fast, and its vibration is also only symbolic. So it is always worth paying attention to this function! But the typical "Home" functions come up with a long press during use and by sliding to the side! And since realizing this, I don't even use the classic Android control buttons in the lower part of the screen, which fortunately can be removed with a single gesture and thus make even better use of the 5,5" screen diagonal. So that's good!

However, the thin coffees around the screen are, of course, not as narrow as those seen in rendered commercials in general, but a little thicker. And, as I wrote, I like the more comprehensive narrower devices, so it soon became clear that the 7,5cm width was just a little bit for me. Just so much so that if the two-sided frame could have been even narrower by 2-2 mm (than was imaginable based on the advertising images), then its size could have become ideal. Although it may be an exaggeration of my exaggerated expectations just because the machine is still small, so it's tolerable. Then it soon turned out that there was no Led on it. Unfortunately! So the presence or absence of any indication can only be detected on the screen by pressing the side power switch. Or even Home button, this is already a disadvantage. What was still a practical problem came up during the calls. Even more!

leagoo kiicaa mix 3

It is clear from the pictures that there are two small grids and a series of holes at the bottom next to the USB-C connector. Also above, but there is only the right. Well, the top and bottom of these are the speaker grille. Because fortunately the device is capable of real stereo sound reproduction (although due to its speaker size with a thin, weak sound). However, this also raises two troubles: one is that the top speaker, which operates when making a phone call, does not sound in the person’s ear, but upwards, plus not in the middle, the way a person would hold the phone to his ear! For a while, I was also amazed at the almost loud incoming sound of my environment making a phone call, while I could only sense some kind of washed sound. I had to realize that I had to keep the device lower, practically the top edge had to get to the front of my earhole. And of course the side facing the speaker holes, not the middle. Thus, the speaker emits sound directly into the ear canals. It was also possible to turn down the volume, not my environment was listening to my phone calls from here, only me. Hooray, problem solved! All you need is a habit and a routine hand.

leagoo kiicaa mix 13

Well, on the contrary, the bottom side also had surprises in store. After all, there was only one half of the two-sided row of holes along the charging bucket, the speaker, and the other the microphone. Or, as you can see in the picture, there is only one of the holes, namely the extreme one. So you also need to be able to use this in a controlled way, facing the man’s mouth. Again, habit and routine handshake led to the solution. Thanks to the off-center speaker and the diagonally opposite microphone, if I hold the phone in my right hand, the ideal position is almost vertical, if I hold it to the left, then an angle of ~ 45 ° is the right hold. I'm sure I have to pay attention to this even now, it doesn't always go out of my way!

Then, as a result of the design, the front panel 13MP self-timer camera is on the bottom of the device, so you can only take a picture of a person from a rather penetrating angle. On the other hand, there is a trick to using it. To do this, you have to turn the whole device 180 °, place it on top of your head, so you can take great pictures with the self-timer!

And what is an incomprehensible shortcoming for me is the lack of a proximity sensor! This way, you can easily get to the time of writing a complete sack-by-sms text message during a long conversation, if we nest a lot along our ears with the touch screen phone. Because if the screen doesn’t turn off for lack of detection, we can smoothly press anything with our ears. But luckily there was a good antidote to that as well. Namely, a tiny application, Smart Call Center Lock. This indicates with a small padlock the full screen lock during calls, as shown in the attached photo. Meanwhile, if the keyboard is still needed, it can be released by tapping a double padlock. This problem was also eliminated, the track was now free, I just had to use the device.

I also use it properly, almost every day I ask for electrons on my 3000 mAh battery. Yet the brightness is not at maximum flight, but only around the lower third of the slider. (Yeah, it doesn’t automatically adjust to outside light either, unfortunately.) However, BT, GPS, and WiFi are almost always on around me, so it’s no wonder it’s swallowing power. But it's always worth paying attention to its charge, after all, not all acquaintances run around me during the day with a charger with such a connection, almost everyone only has a micro USB. Plus, it can be charged much faster with its factory charger than anything else, even if it has a Cs buckle on it. I usually always push in enough souffle during the day so I don’t have to spend the night and so maybe I’ll take care of the battery too. On the other hand, what is worth taking care of is that the device has a non-removable back cover and a battery that cannot be easily replaced.

But its usability is simple, practical, after a while the handset is handy. It's so short to screen size that I instinctively support the little finger from underneath, if it's in my hands, so it does not have to strain from slipping. It's just as comfortable as it used to be. The side curbing of the metal backing provides a completely handy grip.

The Full HD resolution of the screen is great, even for my eyes that are less suitable for my reading, it is enough to adjust the small font sizes, it can give such a sharp drawing. However, the size of the display also allows for normal viewing of simpler film excerpts. However, if you don't want to enjoy it loudly on the rosy speaker, you need to find your factory headset. There is no other solution! Because it does not have a 3,5 jack. Only the jammed set with USB-C connector included in it can be used. But at least it stands out as a headset!

leagoo kiicaa mix 9

Of course I've dropped it, you can also see a little discoloration in the top corner of the screen. I don't want to shout, but the spot doesn't seem to be spreading, it has stopped at such a minimal beauty flaw for the time being. I’ve never had a problem with it in terms of hardware, with 32GB of storage and 3GB of RAM not only being sufficient, but so far plentiful. I couldn't grow out yet. And its processor, if not the fastest racer, but these eight cores are so fast-paced that it always did its job in the blink of an eye. Even when opening 20+ web pages at the same time. I can easily imagine in my current situation when I would need 8/256 GB or some lightning fast processor. Obviously, future image processing needs will be able to support this with me in a few years, but it will serve my needs today a lot.

The dual camera on the back (13 + 2 MP) captures quite good images with almost normal color tones. In winter, in snow, even in low light. Yet this gives up the lesson pretty well for such small lenses and light-sensing chips. At first, although the low resolution was set at the factory, as monochrome, with no capture and no GPS coordinates, they were quickly customizable even for me. Now, however, I am also taking a family photo or two with this. I'm not going to take part in a photo exhibition with these, but I don't intend it, just as a memory, which of course is perfect.

The science of depth of field blur photos in the work is of course forgettable! With this little bastard, you can never compete with an SLR camera, not even with software scams - it even made the picture even worse, I turned it off.

In summary, I can use a discreet sized phone with almost elegant appearance in everyday life, which also carries a fancy delicacy. It has a small surplus in its use, which is given to a small number of people (in fact, it usually only feels like the owners of poisonous phones), so when I need to use it and pick it up, a glimpse of a fraction of a second gives a little satisfaction. It suggests the strangeness of the appearance that someone else does not have this in his hand, it gives a little uniqueness.

Good to use!

And what would my next phone be like? Your request is not here yet! As long as this works well, I'll stick with it. You don't need better or more right now. But, if it were definitely ready for replacement, then of course I would look for a narrower phone. With a very thin edge bezel (but it shouldn't have a display bent to the edge, I wouldn't want to press the icons unintentionally), controllable only with the "Home" button as usual, and if possible with external light detection and proximity sensor, as well as a notification indicator. I wouldn't stick to 18:9, but I would stick to Full HD. In terms of batteries, I would require something brutally large, but this contradicts the narrow and flat design. And of course, following the example of my very old Samsung qwert-keyboard dual sim phone, it would be great if it could be dual active instead of dual standby (nowadays this is rare as a white raven, maybe the last time I saw it was the Honor8). And in addition to all of this, I would also like its appearance to offer something extra in addition to its use of durable materials (so no glass back!), now I would stick to the suggestion of individuality. And in addition to all this, I would also expect it to be similarly cheap as my current LEAGOO KIICAA MIX phone.

So I won’t have my next phone anytime soon because such a combination just doesn’t exist in the market! The Huawei P10 alone could be imagined in blue with a pyramid-patterned back cover, but it would not provide many of the expected parameters. And especially not in price!
