Laptop for $ 100?

What an impossible idea, isn't it? Yet the truth is that it is not an impossible wish at all.

The $ 100 laptop already exists, though its series production hasn’t started yet, but even if it does start commercially, we won’t encounter it. The only purpose of the development of the machine was to get the computer to places where it was not possible to buy machines. Thanks to an initiative launched by MIT Media Lab, computer science education can reach countries it has not been able to for economic reasons.

The machines will only be available through government sources. Although serial production has not yet started, a working example already exists. The extremely low energy consumption machine with a 500 MHz processor and USB port can be charged using a "curb", so no external energy source is required for its use. In addition to traditional portable computer functions, it will also be used for watching TV and playing games. According to the manufacturer's promise, they will be able to produce up to a million devices within a year.

A prototype of the machine had already been unveiled at a UN conference where UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan could also test it.
