Here are these portable machines. They are cheap, they have a good display, they can last a long time and they are brazenly cheap. What could be the secret?
Don't expect a big mystery! the secret lies in the chipset, which is based on an Intel Cherry Trail Z8300 chip that has four cores and runs at 1,4 GHz, but can scale up to 1,84 GHz under load. This chipset is not designed for notebooks, but for tablets, and also runs a special version of Android and Windows 10.
This fact does not stop some manufacturers from building a notebook around the chipset, and let's not be hypocritical, they are doing very well to think this way. It is true that these machines are not comparable to a "regular" notebook in terms of performance and hard drive size, but in many other capabilities, they swallow them crosswise.
Let's see the exact characteristics of the hardware, then return to the question of whether it is worth buying such a machine, if not why not, and if so, to whom we recommend it.
The display of the CHUWI LapBook is a 15,6 inches full HD panel with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels. The machine runs the already mentioned Intel Cherry Trail Z8300 with four cores and 1,44 GHz. The installed operating system is a special version of Windows 10 Home, which has the same capabilities as the desktop version, but is not interchangeable. The machine has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of eMMC storage, which can be expanded with a CF card with a capacity of 128 GB or less. We have already mentioned the long operating time, which is served by the built-in 10 mAh Polymer Li-ion battery.
We also have a 2 megapixel camera, 802.11b / g / n wifi for network connection, Bluetooth 4.0 so we can connect to our other devices as well. USB has a USB 2.0 and a USB 3.0 port, and finally a headphone output.
As you can see it's a pretty good little machine, but it's not recommended for everyone to buy. We recommend it to those who are not constantly thinking about how to tune, how to update Windows daily, who like to constantly buzz. This machine is not for them, nor is it for those who want to play on a notebook. Of course, solitaire and older 3D games also run on it.
On the other hand, for those who would carry a lot with them from work due to work, we highly recommend it as it weighs only 1,9 kilograms. For those who would work, surf the Internet, correspond with him, we highly recommend it, if only because they come with a complete set of Microsoft Office in addition to the installed Windows 10. My own experience is that if we use the machine for everyday tasks, we don't want to install a thousand and one programs on it, then even the 64 GB of storage that seems small at first is plenty.
It can also be used perfectly for multimedia as well, meaning using Youtube and watching movies is not a problem for a moment.
So these machines are largely able to satisfy the needs of the average user, and what is really nice is that they can be bought with transport, customs and VAT for as little as 60 forints. For so much money, this machine is a real gift! So the current purchase price is $ 200, delivery is from a European warehouse, from which, luckily, we can have our new notebook in our hands within a week.
