Turnkey solution: Fujitsu facilitates the transition to virtual desktop infrastructure

Turnkey solution: Fujitsu facilitates the transition to virtual desktop infrastructureFujitsu has introduced a new solution that facilitates the transition of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).

To simplify the process, Fujitsu VDI packages provide all the hardware and software components to transform PC- and notebook-based environments.

The introduction of VDI offers savings in both hardware and IT operations. In the new environment, data is saved to a central server, which saves energy costs compared to traditional PC-based networks. Although VDI is already a proven solution, many smaller companies are still reluctant to implement it for fear of complexity.

In response to growing demand from reseller partners and end-user customers, Fujitsu has put together new VDI packages that facilitate the transition to virtual desktop infrastructure. Fujitsu VDI packages in two sizes - max. 42 or max. To support 20 jobs - can be ordered. Both packages include the optimized Fujitsu PRIMERGY TX200 S6 server and the display-integrated Fujitsu zero clients that provide a network interface. The package also includes a keyboard, mouse and display for operating the server. The software comes pre-installed and ready to run on your system.

For future scalability, Fujitsu also provides sufficient spare capacity on host servers and switches to add additional Fujitsu zero clients. With Fujitsu’s optional portable zero client (a plug-and-play USB memory device that converts existing desktops and laptops into VDI host nodes), companies can also use their old Windows-based PCs in a VDI environment.

VDI gives end users more flexibility, as they can access their personal desktops from any Fujitsu zero client connected to the corporate network, even remotely. The performance is the same as when using a desktop or laptop, but the display-integrated Fujitsu zero client produces far less heat and noise, which is an advantage in a busy office environment.

Dieter Heiss, Head of Workplace Systems at Fujitsu Technology Solutions, said in a statement: “VDI is particularly well-suited to meet the needs of small and medium-sized businesses, but they often fear its complexity. In response, Fujitsu's new VDI packages simplify the transition by providing all of VDI's components in one package: from the central server to the keyboard and mouse to the network and power cables. ”

To get started, companies only need to decide how many VDI workstations they want to install - Fujitsu will provide them with all other conditions, including optional installation and maintenance services.

Fujitsu VDI packages can be purchased directly from Fujitsu and its SELECT partners in the CEMEA & I region, which covers continental Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India. Goods vary by country.
