The USB 3.0 (SuperSpeed ​​USB) standard has been on the market for a relatively long time, can be found on many fresh motherboards, and has hit its head on more serious notebooks, and can also be obtained in the form of various expansion cards. Yes, but the coin has two sides, it is not enough to have USB 3.0 type connectors, you also need a device that also uses this. While the proliferation of hardware using USB 3.0 is progressing, it can’t be said to be at a frantic pace, although mass storage requires more bandwidth than a wall of bread. Of course, some manufacturers already have such an external hard drive - a Buffallo's and the Silicon Power visited us - and the supply is expanding week by week, the prices are falling, albeit slowly.

However, the use of USB 3.0 may not only be justified in the case of external HDDs and SSDs, as flash memories working in today's flash drives may be capable of much higher speeds than the bandwidth of USB 2.0 allows them. Though the physical size of flash drives has not increased, all the more so their storage capacity is now available to anyone with 64GB models (with enough money available), so a huge flash drive with USB 3.0 could be the most dreaded treasure in our pocket, but we had to wait - so far! Kingston was one of the first to recognize the opportunity and created the Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 family to meet the needs.

The company's pocket drives do not need to be presented to anyone, Kingston represents a similarly high standard not only in the market of RAM modules, but also in the market of flash drives and SSDs, its flash drives can be found in large quantities and selection in the Hungarian market, so it is logical and gratifying. the arrival of DataTraveler Ultimate USB 3.0.

The drive is a bit chunkier than an average model, but its size is still negligible compared to an external HDD, along with its weight. Its design is characterized by an attractive, white-silver color pair, the connector is protected from external influences by a cap, which can be attached to the bottom of the flash drive when removed, so it is not left anywhere. The Kingston logo is engraved on the material on one side of the body, while the DT Ultimate inscription on the other side, with the storage capacity of that unit below.

We are very pleased to have the largest version, i.e. the 64 GB version. The packaging is quite informative, it communicates the speed data available in each mode, which is 3.0/80 MB / s according to the manufacturer using USB 60! Of course, DT Ultimate USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with the USB 2.0 standard, but older systems do not always recognize the drive when connected directly, which is what the included Y USB cable does. Here we would like to note in brackets that our ASUS P7P55D-E PRO motherboard worked flawlessly even with a direct connection when used on a USB 2.0 interface. Of course, the USB 3.0 standard is also Plug & Play, its use does not entail any additional needs, and the standard also promises more favorable power management options.
