A dual-core Intel Atom is working on the upgraded Shuttle X27

Shuttle will install a dual-core Intel Atom with a 1,6 GHz clock speed and 1 MB of second-level cache in the refurbished X27.

The 27 (H) × 250 (W) × 185 (M) mm housing of the X70D-branded barebone hides an Intel 945GC-based platform from prying eyes. It also goes without saying that this is a configuration blessed with an Intel Atom processor, but it’s important to note that this time the dual-core 330 pulls itself into the embrace of the micro-FCBGA socket. The chipset also includes the graphics controller, the Intel GMA 950.

The motherboard has a memory slot that can be "charged" with a 667 or 533 MHz DDR2 module up to 2 gigabytes, an IDE and two SATA ports for device management, and six USB 2.0 / 1.1 ports. Of course, unmissable integrated devices include six-channel audio and gigabit Ethernet. The Shuttle X27D is powered by a "fanless" 60 W external power supply.
