China has the world's 2nd fastest supercomputer!
The “big cat” of the USA has not been beaten, but it is still not a shame.
China has built a new supercomputer to make them the fastest supercomputer in the world. It worked, and it didn't.
As the title suggests nebulae The performance of the machine named is called 2nd place, which means 1,271 PetaFlop / s (hereinafter Pflop / s). This is a practical value that is done with a so-called Linpack measurement program. According to this, the first place is still in the United States Jaguar holds 1,76 Pflop / s. On the other hand, based on the maximum theoretical speed of the machines, the situation is already reversed, as the Nebulae can show a value of 2,98 Pflop / s here, while the Jaguar is “only” capable of 2,3 Pflop / s.
Located in the US Jaguar "power plant"
China’s new powerhouse will contain no less than 55.680 processor cores and 4.680 graphics cores. The iron consists of Intel Xeon 5650 processors and NVIDIA Tesla C2050 GPUs. The new supercomputer in Shenzhen will be officially handed over on May 31st.

Incidentally, the most powerful supercomputer in Europe, the Jugene with its 0,875 Pflop / s power, it slides to 5th place. The full list of 500 supercomputers can be viewed on this on the site.
