The Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition will come
Az AMD it also squeezes the last remaining resources out of the K10.5 architecture.
DonanimHaber has received interesting information that AMD it will launch another Phenom II desktop processor. The novelty will be built around the Deneb chip (Stars architecture) and will be clocked at 3,7 GHz (18.5 x 200 MHz). Named the Phenom II X4 980, the quad-core novelty is in the 125-watt TDP class. The size of the second and third level caches has not changed, i.e. the former will be 512 KB per core and the latter 6 MB will be available. This will most likely be the last Phenom II CPU, as the Fusion project as well as Bulldozer-based products are at the center of development, and the manufacturer has already brought more out of the K10.5 architecture than anyone would have thought.
Due to the name of the Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition, it will be a multiplier-free edition, expected to be released in June.
