New test program coming soon: Rydermark 2006

A new test program from an as yet unknown development team, Rydermark 2006, could debut in a few weeks.

Unfortunately, it is not yet known whether this will be a game and can be used as a test program, but the point is that the palette seems to be expanding again, and we hope that we will not be richer with another synthetic, nothing good test program (see 3DMark). The program promises to have the following features:

  • Pixel shader 2.0 / 3.0
  • Support for multi-core processors
  • Parallax Occlusion Mapping
  • 64-bit High Dynamic Range Lighting (HDR) support with edge filtering
  • Soft shadows (more beautiful, refined shading can be seen, for example, in The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay)
  • Intense GPU accelerated particle system (explosions)
  • Full screen motion blur effect
  • High resolution textures

It can be seen that there are several interesting things in it, such as. Parallax Occlusion Mapping (POM), which lends a three-dimensional effect to planar drawn surfaces to resemble true spatial shapes.

We will know in a few weeks whether all this will be true, but in the meantime, many details will come to light. The only image we can already see is shown below.
