Apple has announced new iMac, Mac mini and Mac Pro models
For the time of CeBIT, Apple has timed the unveiling of its renewed machines.
A Mac mini Apple has made a small but substantial intervention in its case: the outdated Intel GMA 950 graphics controller has been replaced by NVIDIA’s mGPU, the GeForce 9400M, which is capable of approximately five times the performance of its immediate predecessor. However, this is not the only area where the tiny machine has evolved, as it is now available not only with 120 but also with 250 or even 320 GB hard drives and 4 GB of system memory.
Apple said the mini-machine with a 2,0 or 2,26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor will consume less than 13 watts when idle, a 45% improvement. The new Mac mini starts at $ 599.
A Mac Pro nor has it remained intact: the Nehalem-based Intel Xeon 5500 processor, combined with 1066 MHz DDR3 memory modules, easily outperforms previous or even more moderately equipped Mac Pro computers in terms of computing performance. The Turbo Boost function allows the user to increase the clock signal of the above-mentioned central unit from 2,93 to 3,33 GHz.
Satisfactory graphics performance is provided in the form of an ATI Radeon HD 4870 or NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 video card. Of course, ATI CrossFireX and NVIDIA SLI are also supported.
The Mac Pro starts at $ 2499 and the dual-processor version at $ 3299.
The complete iMac all-in-one computer family has also been renewed. The 20-inch model's 1680 × 1050 pixel display is powered by the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, but the 24-inch (1920 × 1200) can not only be associated with the aforementioned graphics driver, but also the NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 and GT 130 and the ATI Radeon HD 4850 .
The iMac is available with a 2,66, 2,93, or 3,06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, or a 320 GB, 640 GB or 1 TB hard drive as an intermediate, with system memory sizes of 2, 4, or 8 GB. Apple started the 20-inch iMac at a starting price of $ 1199.
