New A-GPS service from Nokia

With the technical framework, service providers can provide their own regional A-GPS service.

With Assisted GPS (A-GPS), Nokia Maps users can find their current location faster and get to their destination faster with their Nokia mobile device with built-in GPS.

Nokia will later include all new devices with built-in GPS in the service. The first devices to use A-GPS are the Nokia 6110 Navigator, which has already been launched in some markets, and the Nokia N95 multimedia computer.
Nokia N95 owners can download the Nokia Software Updater (http://www.nokia.hu/szoftverfrissito) you can use the free service by running: the program updates the recorded software of the device to the latest version.

With the help of the service, network-connected mobile devices with built-in GPS determine our current position faster in most geographical locations worldwide (the process is called first positioning). With the shortened first positioning time, Nokia's full location-specific features become even more usable.

The service works in conjunction with a technical framework that allows third parties, such as service providers, to provide their own A-GPS services, allowing them to further reduce the time required for initial positioning in each area - to the delight of subscribers.
