Here is the first silent 6800 Radeon

In the Powercolor workshop, a passively cooled Barts-based video card was forged.

Powercolor thought the Radeon 6850 video card, built around the Barts GPU, had a maximum power consumption of 127 watts so good (low) that it would provide a passive cooling to the card. This has now been stepped up by the manufacturer and a huge fanless solution has been put on it. From the graphics processor, five thick heat pipes conduct the given amount of heat towards the very dense aluminum ribbing, so this video card is completely independent of the silent load. The back of the product has four video outputs, two of which are DVI, one is HDMI and one is DisplayPort. Clocks are likely to follow the reference recommendation to avoid over-consumption.
