A woman from Zala has earned more than ten million forints in two years by selling fashion items online, who could be sentenced to up to five years in prison for false goods designation and tax fraud, the National Transdanubia Regional Tax Directorate of Western Transdanubia told MTI on Monday.

Tax inspectors browsed the internet and came across a woman who regularly sold fashion items but did not pay tax on her earnings. In her declaration, the woman confessed only the income from the sale of movable property. According to his statement, he was short-lived during the period under review, selling his grown-up, used clothes to his children on the World Wide Web.

In order to determine the taxpayer's income, the tax authority carried out a related investigation at one of the companies operating an online marketplace. Based on this, it turned out that in two years the woman sold almost five thousand pieces of fashion items - mainly belts, wallets, sunglasses, bags - worth more than ten million forints.

The seller did not have a business card and tax number, nor did he have a proof of purchase for the goods sold. He sold products bearing the names of the largest fashion companies for a few thousand forints, but presumably obtained the probably counterfeit products from illegal sources, so the actual purchase price was undetectable.

The tax office has filed a criminal complaint, the case is being further investigated by financial investigators. The suspect can be sentenced to up to five years' imprisonment for tax fraud and misrepresentation of goods, NAV wrote.
