Intel Moorestown: a platform for mobiles and tablets

Intel will rise to another level of manufacturing with Moorestown, which will be made for low-power devices, i.e. mobiles, tablets.

Moorestown is a 45nm Atom Z6xx (Lincroft) with 140 million transistors and an MP20 control hub (Langwell). Power consumption is reduced by 50 × in standby mode, by 20 × while listening to music, and by 2-3 × while watching video or browsing the net.

If the Moorestown is built into a phone, they promise 10 days of standby time, 4-5 hours of netting or video recording (720p recording). The platform supports OpenGL ES 2.0, OpenGL 2.1 and OpenVG 1.1, thanks to the GMA 600 graphics core. Today, WiFi, 3G / HSPA and WiMAX are no longer an issue. We will be able to use it with Android, MeeGo or Moblin 2.1+ systems.

You don't have to wait long for the Intel platform, it will be available in some new devices soon.
