PlayStation Live will be free

Unlike Microsoft's Xbox Live service, Sony will not have to pay for its Internet service.

Sony Computer Entertrainment America’s PR manager recently announced that their online service will be completely free, not only in multiplayer mode, but will also serve as a community hub. This will allow you to chat, create your own profile, post your game statistics, start matches, and download extra stuff.

According to information available on the Internet, Sony started work on the PlayStation Live sometime around 2001, but knowing that it was no longer necessary to build such a service for the PS2, so their ideas and developments were designed to match the latest generation of gaming consoles.
